TL James graduated with an MBA from LeTourneau University. At LETU, James cultivated an interest in biblical studies and research. Little did James know, but her love for research would become an integral thread in her writing style.
After many sleepless nights, James began writing her first speculative fictional book, with her newly born son tucked comfortably at her side. She developed the family drama storyline that showcases her love of research, biblical studies and literary classics (i.e., Chaucer, Shakespeare and Mythology). The MPire Trilogy was born.
In 2008, TL James revived PHE Ink, a Writing Solutions Firm, after discovering a number of gaps in the publishing industry. James works with aspiring writers, one-on-one, to develop their literary voice. PHE Ink, also, assists entrepreneurs with transforming their business dreams into defined objectives and business plans.
TL James currently resides in Houston, Texas with her son and immediate family.

Book Review: Assault with a Deadly Glue Gun by Lois Winston

Title: Assault with a Deadly Glue Gun (Anastasia Pollack Crafting Mystery)
Author: Lois Winston
Publisher: Midnight Ink
ISBN: 978-0-7387-2347-1
Release Date: 2011
Pages: 290
Genre: Cozy Mystery
Format: Paperback
Source: Loan from Sister-In-Law

Back Cover:
A Hot and Sticky Mess

When Anastasia Pollack’s gambling addicted husband permanently cashes in his chips in Vegas, her life craps out. She’s left with two teenage sons, a mountain of debt, and her nasty, cane-wielding Communist mother-in-law. Not to mention a loan shark demanding fifty thousand dollars.

Anastasia’s job as crafts editor at American Woman magazine makes life even stickier when she discovers the dead body of uber-ambitious fashion editor Marlys Vanderburg hot-glued to Anastasia’s office chair. Marlys collected enemies and ex-lovers like Jimmy Choos. When evidence surfaces of an illicit affair between Marlys and Anastasia’s husband, Anastasia becomes the prime suspect. Can she sew up the case and keep hersef out of jail before the real killer puts a permanent end to her investigation?

My Review:
This looks like this could be a very cute series. I like the fact that there are crafts in general for a change.

Anastasia’s husband sets the ball rolling by falling in his chips. He then leaves behind 2 teenage sons his lovely Communist mother and debt for Anastasia to have to deal with. The debt wasn’t enough, there is a loan shark after her also. To make matters worse (as if they could get any worse) a co-worker Marlys Vanderburg is killed and glued gun to Anastasia’s office chair.

Anastasia becomes the first likely suspect, but their could be so many since Marlys does have her share of enemies. The antics that Anastasia has to go through to get to the killer keeps you reading to see what possibly could happen next.

Book Review: Enchanted Thyme by Ariane Smith

Title: Enchanted Thyme (Book One: The Delicious Adventure Series)
Author: Ariane Smith with Chef Michael Wilson (recipes)
Publisher: Big Word Press
ISBN: 978-0-9814872-0-5
Release Date: September 1, 2008
Pages: 130
Genre: Cookbook, Children’s
Format: Hardcover

Review on the inside cover:
Every night at bedtime, 10 year old Belinda Phair and her yunger brother Peter choose a story for their father, Chef Michael, to read them. One night they discover a new volume on their shelf, a book that neither remembers seeing before, a book that seems to have magically appeared, a book of endless stories, adventures and recipes. The book is “Enchanted Thyme”

That night, as Peter and Belinda drift off to sleep, they’re visited by three winged kitchen mice names Marjoram, Basil and Rosemary who whisk them off to the land of Enchanted Thyme. There they discover a mystical forest heavy under the dark spell of the Fricassee Fairy. The Fairy’s powerful curse of eternal hunger has stricken the land’s Queen Topstead. Everyone in the kingdom is topsy-turvy trying to find a meal that will satisfy the Queen’s longing and appetite. Peter and Belinda are chosen to help the royal kitchen’s master chef find just the right secret ingredient for a dish that will satisfy the royal appetite and restore order.

Will they ever be able to break Fricassee Fairy’s curse once and for all? Well….Fairy tales can sometimes come true.

My Review:
What a wonderful chapter book with an “Enchanting” story. What a creative way to have children learn about fairy tales, but in a more current way. Belinda and Peter are charmed by the kitchen mice that come with spice or herb names to have them help in the land of Enchanted Thyme.

The story does keep you reading to find out what wonder mishap will occur to the band of misfits. The mice seem to always have trouble follow them, but the children use their brains to get them out of it. Peter who seems timid in the beginning is a brave master by the end of the story. Belinda must use her ingenuity to help them get out of some of the scrapes, but most importantly she must use what she’s learned from her father in the kitchen.

Each chapter has a recipe that is very kid friendly and they can help with preparation of. The ones that sounded best to me were: Chef Michael’s Macaroni with 3 Gooey Cheeses, The Fricassee Fairy’s Siberian Ice Pops, Fizzly Wizzly and Most Dizzly Punch.

This is suppose to be a series that I will patiently wait for the next adventure appear, just as Belinda and Peter do.

Book Review: The Chocolate Snowman Murder by Joanne Carl

Back Cover:
The much anticipated Winter Arts Festival is here in the west Michigan town of Warner Pier. As treasurer of WinterFest, Lee is up to her elbows in behind-the-scenes arguments and mix-ups. When the guest juror for the art show turns up drunk, Lee leaves him to sleep it off – only to find out the next day that someone’s put the visiting dignitary into a permanent state of repose.

The last people spotted near the crime scene – Lee and her hubby, Joe – are in a sticky situations. After another murder and a run-in with a deadly snowman, it’s up to them to find the real killer before someone else comes to a bitter end.

Mine:
Another wonderful cozy in the Warner Pier series. I have to say this one took me a little longer to figure out, which was great for a change. I love this series with its warm (or cold depending on the season) stories of a small town in the Midwest. It sounds so much like the town my Grandparents lived in and things that went on when we would spend the summer there (although usually no murders that I know of).

Events like the Arts Festival is what attracts people to small towns and make them. Lee must deal with a art judge that comes into town, but soon finds that she a suspect in his murder. She knows she’s innocent, but must solve the mystery of who did do and discovers some secrets about her neighbors.

Fool For Books Hop (4/1 - 2)

WOW Did I blow it. I thought I had added my info for the book. Thanks to all of you that came and found nothing at first.

It was the trial that electrified the world. Not only because of the defendant, Maggie Bradford, the woman whose songs captivated the world's heart. Not only because of the victim, Will Shepard, the world's most glamorous athlete. But also because everyone said Maggie had murdered not just one husband, but two. And because in Maggie's world--the world she feared and despised but could not escape, the world of the powerful, the rich, and the ruthless--both death and life could never be what they seemed
