Cover Reveal/#Giveaway : Drawn by Chris Ledbetter

Date: 06/08/15
Artist: Jay Aheer

from Goodreads:

between the sweltering fall landscape of Wilmington, NC beaches and southern
illusions and expectations, all sixteen year-old Cameron Shade thinks about is
art. That, and for Farrah Spangled to view him as more than just a friend.
Cameron longs to win her heart through art.

After several warm interactions with Farrah, including painting together at the
beach, Cameron discovers just how complex Farrah’s life is with her boyfriend
and her family. Following a tense run-in with Farrah’s father, she forbids
Cameron to ever speak to her again, but Cameron’s convinced there’s more behind
the request.

To impress Farrah with a last-ditch effort, Cameron sketches her portrait. But
the sketchbook he uses hides a dark secret. Farrah’s now in grave danger
because the sketch he drew of her siphons her real-life’s soul into the
sketchbook. Cameron now has twenty days to extract Farrah. To save her, he must
draw himself into the book.

If he fails… they both die.

Book Blitz/#Giveaway : After the Silence by Rula Sinara

A themed tour through Prism Book Tours.

We're blitzing the GRAND FINALE for
After the Silence
By Rula Sinara

Two people from different worlds and separated by an ocean. Can love span the distance? Did you find out more during the tour? Did you miss some posts? Go back and check them out now!
What do you hope readers take with them when they read your book?

That there are no boundaries to love: not mountains, oceans, physical or emotional challenges, race, different cultures and not even species (sometimes a pet can open a heart when another person can’t). Love is a universal power that has an extraordinary ability to heal. And it always finds a way.

The Written Adventure - Ten Tips on Strategic Parenting from a Marine
A marine accustomed to battlefields—not babies—is thrown into single parenthood after the tragic loss of his wife. This man has braved worse things than a civilian could imagine, but raising a ten year old who hasn’t spoken since her mother’s death, a hyperactive four year old and an infant who can some major diaper damage…is a whole new kind of battle.

I Am A Reader - Soul Mates Stranded Oceans Apart

In my latest book, After the Silence, Ben Corallis, a widowed marine in America and Hope Alwanga, a medical intern in Kenya manage to meet despite the ocean between them, but that’s just the beginning of the impossible road ahead of them.

Letters from Annie (Douglass) Lima - Suffering in Silence: Selective Mutism in Children

It’s a whole different world when the inability to communicate doesn’t stem from language differences, but from deeply rooted fear or anxiety. In particular, trying to help or raise a child who suffers from selective mutism is heartbreaking and often frustrating because you don’t want to watch them suffer.

JoJo's Corner - Review

"The author does a fabulous job immersing readers into the story and creating powerful scenes throughout. . . . If you love stories of love and loss and second chances…don’t miss After The Silence."

Mythical Books - Heroes and Heroines: How Visual Are You?
When I embark on a new story, one of the first things that pops into my head is an image of the hero and heroine. After all, it would be kind of creepy stepping into their world and encountering faceless people. Don’t you think?

Christy's Cozy Corners - Review

"The characters in After the Silence are very well-written, and you'll feel like they could be your neighbor or best friend. This story drew me in very quickly, and I finished it within 2 days. It is very realistic and moving."

Brooke Blogs - Excerpt

But I need you to get some rest before I end up having to resuscitate you. Or before you do make a human mistake.”

Hope pressed her lips together and cringed at the mental image of Zamir resuscitating her. He’d love that, wouldn’t he? Zamir to the rescue. Always looking out for her. That was exactly why her parents loved him so much.

i blog 4 books - Review

"[After for Silence] is a sweet romance that tackles some tough issues as well. The intro gives readers a glimpse into the "what could have been", making the reality throughout the rest of the book even more heartbreaking. . . . I thought this was a great book. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of this series, so we can keep track of Ben, Hope, and the kiddos! [4 stars]"

WV Stitcher - Review

"Easy to connect with characters that provide depth and feeling for what they are going thru really captured my emotions as I read this story. . . . A touching story that left me wanting to read more from this author."

Wishful Endings - Review

After the Silence was a wonderful, heartfelt story. It was full of challenges, family, self-awakening, friendship, grief, and hope for a brighter future. I loved the romance and I loved these characters. If you enjoy sweet romance and this line of books then this is one you definitely don't want to miss!

Katie's Clean Book Collection - The Month of Love

Have you ever played the word association game? Isn’t it funny how, any given month is identified by its main holiday? I say November, you say….I’m betting you said Thanksgiving. I say December, you say…Christmas, right? And I can’t think of February without thinking of Valentine’s Day. But in a perfect world, shouldn’t every single day of the year be Valentine’s Day? Doesn’t love deserve 365 days instead of just 30…or 1?

Savings in Seconds - Review

"The story is gentle yet heartbreaking; the contrast makes the sweet parts even sweeter. . . . This clean romance has a tender story that all women, especially moms, can appreciate."

Rockin' Book Reviews - Interview & Reviews (Book One & Two)

5. Give us a hint of what the next book in the series will be about.
Thanks for asking! I'm so excited about Book 3 (yet to be titled) in the series. Those who read Book 1, The Promise of Rain, may remember Mac, the Serengeti bush pilot who volunteered time to helping wildlife rescuers and who had a thing for Anna ;). Well, he's the next hero, it'll be back to the wilds of Africa for his story! Stay tuned!

"I love her approach in addressing each topic and in the way she truly draws the reader into the story. The characters are very real and endearing and the scenes portrayed well and easily visualized." (Review)

Does following her passion mean losing her way?

Marine Ben Corallis is an expert at facing death, but nothing comes close to the terror that grounds him when his wife is killed in a car accident the day he returns from duty. He's left to raise an infant, a toddler and a ten-year-old girl who hasn't uttered a word since her mother's death.

It's hard not to care for the widowed marine with three young children. Yet he's still grieving, too burdened with guilt to fall in love again. And Hope Alwanga's future as a doctor awaits her on the other side of the world, in Nairobi. If two such opposites can't agree on a common country, how can they ever create a safe place to call home?

Book Blitz/#Giveaway : Gathering Frost (Once Upon A Curse #1) by Kaitlyn Davis

Gathering Frost

(Once Upon A Curse #1)
Release Date: 02/17/15

Summary from Goodreads:
Will his kiss be enough to revive her frozen heart?

Once Upon A Time meets La Femme Nikita in GATHERING FROST, a dystopian romance from bestselling author Kaitlyn Davis that reimagines the classic fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty.

Jade was only a little girl when the earthquake struck. Before her eyes, half of New York City disappeared, replaced by a village that seemed torn out of a storybook. Horses and carriages. Cobblestone streets. A towering castle. And, above all, a queen with the magical ability to strip emotions away.

Ten years later and Jade has forgotten what it is to feel, to care...even to love. Working as a member of the queen's guard, she spends most of her time on the city wall staring at the crumbling skyscrapers of old New York. But everything changes when the queen's runaway son, Prince Asher, returns. Jade is tasked with an unusual mission--to let the Prince capture her, to make him trust her, and then to betray his secrets to the crown. In return, she'll earn her freedom. But life outside the queen's realm is more than Jade bargained for. Under Asher's relentless taunts, her blood begins to boil. Under his piercing gaze, her heart begins to flutter. And the more her icy soul begins to thaw, the more Jade comes to question everything she's ever known--and, more importantly, whose side she's really on.

Gathering Frost – This is the scene where Jade and Prince Asher meet for the first time! It's a little different than the Disney version :)

There are no sounds outside of the fire, no moans of pain, and instantly I am on edge. The commander would say it was nothing—that part of a building slipped free and happened to fall on our mine. Nothing more.
But the back of my neck tingles.
Then it is cold.
Metal presses against my skin, the shape of a circle. I recognize the barrel of a gun when I feel one.
"Don't move," a voice whispers, close to my ear. A voice meant to menace, but the ugly tone sounds unnatural, unconvincing.
I should be afraid. I should feel my insides tighten. But they are cool, calm. So hard that I wonder if a bullet would even break my skin.
A second passes and he does nothing. No hand grabs for my shirt. The gun does not press deeper into my skin. I wait for pain, but his touch is gentle. Too gentle for this world.
I react swiftly, throwing my head to the side and reaching my arm back to catch his. I twist my elbow, bending his arm unnaturally until his fingers open and the gun clangs uselessly against the floor. Blindly, I reach down, feeling the tile as I flip myself over. My grip tightens on the handle.
One swing of my arm and we have changed places.
"Don't move," I say, unable to stop my smirk. The gun is aimed at his chest, but I doubt I will use it. Bullets are too precious to waste.
My eyes travel higher, up his neck, past his square jaw, until I meet his eyes. His face holds shock, a little awe. I've seen that look before, during training rounds with the guard. I'm much tougher than I look.
But there is something else.
Something familiar.
The fire behind me floods through the window, illuminating his features and I swear that I've seen them before.
"Are you going to shoot me?" His voice holds a musical quality. It captures me, makes me lose myself for a moment. And suddenly I remember. In a burst, recognition shocks my brain.
The ice-blond hair. The perfect pale skin. The only difference is his eyes, which seem dark as midnight in this light.
It's Queen Deirdre's son. Prince Asher.
"No," I say quickly.

About the Author
I've always been a writer. I grew up duct taping my novels together, started writing complete manuscripts in high school and studied creative writing at Johns Hopkins University. Upon graduating, I decided it was finally time to actually give my dream career a chance. So, of course, I started writing a young adult paranormal romance series -- and no, I'm not jumping on the bandwagon. I've been a true paranormal supporter for my entire life! I blame my obsession almost completely on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, my all-time favorite television show. And, before you ask: Yes, I own every season... even the post WB ones! I especially challenge anyone to watch the first three seasons and not fall in love with Angel, securing a lifelong love of vampires! Other culprits of my paranormal obsession are some of my favorite authors: JK Rowling, Raymond Feist, Meg Cabot, Richelle Mead, Lynne Ewing and Tamora Pierce.

Book Blitz/#Giveaway : Love Bites by Rachel K. Burke

Date: 12/29/15
New Adult

from Goodreads:
What do you do when you fall in love
with your best friend’s boyfriend?

That is the question that twenty-six year-old Justine Sterling has been asking
herself ever since the day she met David Whitman, her best friend Renee’s
boyfriend. Justine is determined to ignore her growing feelings for the
irresistibly charming David, until one night, when she finds herself in the bed
of the one person she should stay away from.

When Justine and David’s affair ends in heartbreak, Justine is forced to repair
the damaged friendship with her best friend. In doing so, she learns that right
and wrong decisions aren’t always black and white, and sometimes you have to follow
your heart to see where it leads.

Excerpt #1:

I didn’t sleep with David that night. I mean, sure, I slept with him, but not in the sexual sense. Only in the nocturnal sense.
After changing out of our soaking wet swimsuits, David and I somehow ended up in my bed. I’m not really sure how it happened. One minute, I was curled up under my covers, trying to warm up because my hair was soaking wet. The next minute, David was sitting on the edge of my bed, attempting to continue our conversation. Eventually, we both fell asleep without leaving that general proximity.
By the time I woke up the next morning, David was no longer in my bed, so it sort of felt like it never happened. Instead, he was now in the kitchen, making coffee and eggs and toast. God, he was so damn perfect. Even in his gym shorts with messy bedhead. I remember, at that distinct moment, thinking about how much I wished I could find someone like him. And hating Renee for not realizing how lucky she was.
“So, little lady,” David said, placing two plates of food down on the kitchen table. “What are your plans for this evening?”
I sat down at the table and rubbed my throbbing temples. “Well, I can tell you what I won’t be doing.”
“Hmm… breaking up more families?”
I glared at him. He grinned.
“Too soon?”
I picked a piece of crust off my toast and threw it at him. “Funny,” I retorted. “I think I’m just going to stay in tonight.”
He took a bite of scrambled eggs and nodded. “Well, if you’re here later, maybe I’ll swing by. I don’t really feel like going out either.”
There was a part of me that felt like I should say no, because it felt wrong to be spending time with Renee’s boyfriend when she wasn’t there. But there was also a part of me that thought I was overreacting. I mean, what was the big deal? We hadn’t done anything wrong. We had a drink, went swimming and fell asleep. That was it.
So why did I feel guilty?
Deep down, I knew why. It was because of the way I felt about him. The way I’d felt about him since the moment I met him. But of course, I couldn’t tell him that.
“That’s fine,” I said. “As long as it’s cool with Renee.”
“I’m sure she’d be happy that I was here to cheer you up. Since she couldn’t be.”
It was then that I saw something in his eyes. That look. It was the same look I always fought to ignore, but it seemed more intense now, more dangerous. Maybe because we were alone. Or maybe because my feelings for him weren’t entirely one-sided. But I could’ve sworn, at that moment, that I felt something between us change.
