Author Guest Post/#Giveaway : ITGIRL4LIFE by Tamara Branch
Why I wrote ITGIRL4LIFE
by Tamara Branch
To the Girls of the World,
I wrote ITGIRL4LIFE because I want you to create the best life you can for yourself. I want you to go for your dreams and give it all you've got. I want you to be bold, speak up, speak out and be fearless. I want you to be HAPPY. I want you to know how strong you are and that you can get through anything. I want you to pick yourself up when you fall down. I want you to be YOU to the highest power, authentic and real. I want you to SHINE. I want you to believe in yourself, step up responsibility, honor your life, have faith and push through. I want you to stand in your GREATNESS as a young woman.
When I first got the idea to write this book, I thought of my own insecurities when I was a teen and what helped me to overcome them. I thought about what I learned from my mistakes, life lessons, experiences, personal study and my life's exploration. I thought about the 'not smart enough, pretty enough, tall enough, thin enough' epidemic in our society, the media's influence on how girl's feel about themselves, other people's opinions and judgements and the pressure on girls and women to look, act and be a certain way.
I wanted to contribute something to the self-esteem conversation. I'm a student of personal development. I study the thought leaders in this area. I read books that uplift. I surround myself with people that are about IT. I am committed to improving, expanding my thinking, being of service and keeping myself inspired. EVERYBODY has doubts, fears, challenges, tough times. I certainly do. Life can be hard. It's not easy to show up for yourself and stay positive ALL the time. I wrote ITGIRL4LIFE to help.
To build a house you have to begin with a strong foundation. You have to lay the ground work before you start adding on and designing the rest. Same thing with you and me. Having a foundation of powerful ideas and principles helps to create an INNER support, giving you the tools to cope with the ups and downs of everyday life. The stronger and more solid your foundation is, the better because your foundation is what keeps you standing. Tapping into your power as an individual is the key to making it.
There is a reality that hits you as you get older and that is that your life is up to YOU. What you believe about yourself is EVERYTHING. When you believe that you are a person of value, extraordinary, beautiful, capable, smart, talented and important, you walk into the room differently, you ACT differently and you make decisions from a secure and confident place. This book was written for you, the girls of the world. I want you to always remember the simple, yet profound things that will help you create the best life you can for yourself.

Summary
from Goodreads:
from Goodreads:
It
was only a wish.
was only a wish.
Connor Sullivan was painfully average. The very highlight of his existence was
going to school, doing homework, and playing video games. He thought nothing would
ever change that. Unfortunately, homework usually screws everything up.
A cut, some blood, and a hastily scrawled promise to sell his soul for his
fondest wish...and all hell breaks loose. Literally.
The Demons take him up on his offer.
In a last ditch effort to keep his soul, he wishes to become one of the demons,
or Fallen as they call themselves. Connor thought he had found a solution to
his problem. He never fully understood the meaning of the phrase, "From
the frying pan into the fire," until his wish was granted. The biggest
catch?
Never ever fall in love with a human...
And then she walked into his school. Beautiful, red-haired, funny...and blind.
Connor's heart didn't stand a chance. Neither did the Fallen's rules. He had
saved his soul, but could he find happiness without hurting the girl he loved?
Or would secrets Jessica didn't even know she had destroy them all?
Prologue
Ever have one of those bad ideas just pop into your head? You know the ones. They seem like a great idea at the time, but if you had stopped to think about it a moment…
I'm talking about those ideas where you just seize the moment and do what your heart tells you to. Then, after the dust settles and you get bandaged up, your parents say, "What the hell were you thinking?"
"But, Dad, I wasn't!"
I had one of those moments.
I guess if you want to be technical, I had a whole chain of those moments leading up to the big bang moment. The problem was I didn't have anyone standing around saying, "What the hell were you thinking?"
The moral of this story?
There are several.
First, stores don't sell black candles for a reason. They're bad news. If you happen to come across one in the mall that sells questionable items…walk away. Trust me on this one. Black candles are bad.
Second, always know what you want out of life. Coasting along, not caring about anything will get you into trouble. Maybe more than you can handle.
Lastly, if someone offers to grant you your fondest wish, wish for something you really, truly want. Wish for something that will make the world a better place or you a better person. Never ever wish to be a monster…

from Goodreads:
Modern-day Camelot. Where knights no
longer carry swords. Magic is dangerous. And those who seek control are not to
be trusted.
Sixteen-year-old Morgan le Fay is a fire user. An ordinary girl with an
extraordinary skill, she has the ability to create and command fire at will.
Her dream is to become the Maven—the right hand of the future King Arthur. In
the chance of a lifetime, Morgan is selected to join Arthur’s Round, an elite
group of young magic users from which the new Maven will be chosen.
Along with the other fire, water, and wind users in Arthur’s Round, Morgan is
rigorously trained and tested. The handsome Merlin, a brilliant water user,
takes a particular interest in her. Is his friendship to be trusted, or is
Merlin simply trying to win the position of Maven for himself? Among the many
rivals Morgan faces is the current Maven, Mordred, who seems determined to see
her fail.
But Morgan has a secret—years ago, her mother was executed for using fire
magic, and Morgan’s desire for justice makes her more than ready to take on the
challenge before her. Can she prevail in Camelot’s tests of survival and magic?
Only time—and Morgan’s powerful fire—will tell.

Escape comes, but at a price. As they reach the shore, Aro and the other
survivors learn that freedom doesn't mean safety. The slavers want their
property back and will do anything to get it. The party uses every ounce of
their brute strength, a hearty helping of cunning, and even ancient magics to
keep themselves alive. Sickness, danger, and even love surprise them at every
turn. Dealing with danger becomes their way of life, but none of them ever
considered that nothing can be quite as dangerous as a prophecy. Running turns
into another race altogether as her world falls to pieces again and again.
Excerpt 1
Her eyes opened to darkness.
She wasn't surprised. When bad things happened and you finally opened your eyes it was always dark wasn't it? Because otherwise when you woke up you wouldn't be scared, not right away, not until you remembered. Yet in darkness nothing else could be seen but the memories of what had happened, it didn't matter if you opened your eyes or kept them squeezed closed.
What happened…
She closed her eyes again, not against the memories, but the sudden tears and choking sobs. Still, she tried to not remember, but her head hurt. All of her hurt, but her head hurt the worst. She'd been hit by something, very hard. She had no trouble remembering the pain. She remembered falling to the ground, her brothers screaming her name over the insane loudness of the fighting and everything fading to nothing as darkness claimed her.
She sucked in a deep breath. The fighting. Yes, the city had been attacked. The walls had been breached. There had been fighting in the streets. She had been fighting. Her brothers had been trying to get her out. They had been so close. Had they?
She shifted and froze, terror creeping up her throat and choking her at the same time until nothing but a strangled gurgle came out.
They had not.
She knew because she felt the cold metal shackles around each wrist, felt the weight of the chain between them. The same fetters bound her ankles. Dirty straw prickled her cheek and the other smells of her surroundings overcame her. They overwhelmed her and made her gag. The rank scents of piss, shit and vomit almost covered the stale reek of sweat and the tang of salt.
Salt.
She'd thought her head had just been spinning, but no, everything moved, lurching and swaying. She was at sea.
At sea in chains meant only one thing. The rumors had been true. The Gelanians had allied with the Franuan Slavers. Beneath the combined attack, Kingsport had fallen and the Frans had taken their cut, citizens to sell as slaves. She was a slave.
Well that sucks.

Grow Your Blog Day 2015
Well I thought if I have more followers it would be get me to post more book reviews (I have lagged behind badly)
I am an avid reader - reading a lot more on the iPad via Kindle. I do post blitz's, excerpts for several book tour companies.
I decided that I want to read more from the library this year - but have started with Overdrive app to check out books that way. Started with some kids books to see how it works and hope to move on to longer books in the next couple of weeks.
My main thing I want to do this year is try to re-vamp my book blog, but don't have the money to pay for an upgrade so will be looking to see what might be out there and am looking for suggestions from others (comments are always good).
My goal is to post at least one review a week, but need to do a lot better at it now. I've managed to post a couple already, but have already read 11 books, so as you can see I'm behind -
Thanks for the follow

Let's search for adventure above in the sky. We'll scout rains. We'll trek through a swamp, a puddle, a pond, in lakes and the river, the ocean beyond. But, what are we looking for? Who will we see? Find animals on this Safari with me! Once you've discovered all the animals, turn to the "For Creative Minds" through the mountains and hills, and then try exploring the forests, the meadows and plains, across the dry desert and through jungle educational section for sorting cards and animal fun facts.
Mine: What a wonderfully illustrated book. Included are the usual animals – Zebras, Penguins, Tigers – but what a nice change to see Yaks, Vultures, and Manatees – not your usual run in the mill animal.
The rhyming goes perfectly with the animals – “On mountain tops the wind can blow a freezing breeze with ice and snow. But even in the coldest storm, the winter-coated Yak stays warm”

Ward Against Disaster (Chronicles of a Reluctant Necromancer #3)
by Melanie Card
Release Date: 01/19/14
Entangled Teen

Summary from Goodreads:
Ward de'Ath should be dead by now. Instead, he’s chasing after a soul-eating creature—that he unleashed— and is bent on stopping her before she slaughters more innocents. Fortunately, Celia Carlyle remains by his side, a nobleman's gorgeous and deadly daughter, who is…well, dead.
Celia claims she’ll champion Ward wherever he goes, even when she thinks his quest is hopeless. He can only hope her pledge comes from her heart, and not because she’s bound to him through his magic.
When they enter Dulthyne, they stumble upon a dark power that threatens the entire town. Ward, with his unreliable necromancy, is determined to help but finds himself ensnared in the lure of white-hot magic…blood magic he struggles to resist. But if Celia’s love is a lie, it might just doom his soul to the dark arts forever.

Ward’s insides squirmed. “We can’t sit here long. She’s a vesperitti, all her senses are enhanced. If she hasn’t smelled our sweat, she’s listening to us talk right now.” She’d probably already heard them approach and could hear his heart trying to pound its way out of his chest.
Celia drew the silver knife—the only thing that could kill a vesperitti—from her dagger’s sheath at her hip. “We need to get her into sunlight to blind her. Get your silver ready.”
Nazarius drew his silver knife and stood.
Celia glanced at Ward, freezing him with her pale blue gaze. A hint of emotion swept through her expression but, like it had been since they’d started hunting Allette four days ago, he couldn’t figure out what it meant. “Stay here.”
Right. It meant he was a liability in a fight. And really, going up against a creature faster and stronger than a man, he was, without a doubt, a liability.
He opened his mouth to say something. Agree, disagree, wish her to stay safe? He didn’t know what, but she leapt away and dashed across the small clearing to the farmhouse’s front door before he could say anything.
Nazarius was a step behind her. She reached the door, threw it open, and Nazarius rushed inside, but he jerked back into the doorway, blocking Celia from entering.
Something was wrong.

About the Author
I have always been drawn to story telling. In fact, I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t telling a story in my head or on paper. In grade school, we had journal writing time which I turned into story telling time, weaving tales of magic and adventure that mimicked the fairy tales and myths that I loved to read. It was there, with the help of two very special teachers, that I nurtured this love and started my journey as a writer.
I write fantasy, paranormal romance, and everything in between, seasoned with a good dash of adventure and mystery. Join me on my tales of magic, adventure, and romance.

Promo Blitz : One Last Hold by Angela Smith
Romantic Suspense
Date Published: November 5, 2014
Wesley Webb is at the pinnacle of his auto racing career when his main rival is murdered hours after their confrontation. That, along with evidence found at the scene, shades him as prime suspect. Now he’s under intense press scrutiny, particularly from Caitlyn Daniels, an ex-girlfriend who knows all about his secret past.
Caitlyn thought to never see Wesley again. Now, his life could be in her hands. Ten years ago, a tragedy tore apart everything she held dear, including their relationship. When she’s assigned to do an exclusive story with the reluctant race car driver she once loved, she believes this could be her purging. But chemistry tears apart her resolve to stay strong. Can they work out their differences and fall in love again, or will tragedy keep them apart?
Excerpt
She took a deep breath. Usually her interviews became more personal. She wasn’t sure how personal to get with him. She knew a lot about him—at least she used to—but she was scared of asking him the wrong thing. She didn’t want to set him off.
“What’s your favorite color?” Caitlyn held a pen in her hand, poised to write, trying to concentrate on the task at hand. Her focus, though, was Wesley’s deep green eyes. Eyes able to pierce her and reach a part of her no one had ever been able to touch before. Something about the way he looked at her, like he saw only her, deep down, clear to her soul.
A hint of danger lurked in his eyes, a predator-like stance that made her sense he was ready to devour her, sexually and otherwise. A vulnerability that made Caitlyn yearn to take him in her arms, to be as close to him as possible. His gaze held no arrogance, no indifference, and no deceit.
Her throat felt parched. His eyes devoured every morsel of her power and well-being.
She couldn’t think of a decent thing to say. Thank God it was his turn to talk.
“My favorite color,” he said as he leaned across the table, closer to Caitlyn, “is the capricious color of your eyes.”
His lips were only inches from hers so that his breath licked against her skin. His eyes possessed her.
She clutched her pen in midair, frozen in space for a mere second. He touched her hand.
The pen fell.
“Blueberry,” he said as he trailed a light kiss across her knuckle, his eyes still magnetizing hers. Her heart stopped in her throat. “Dark and wounded. Cornflower blue, tantalizing with banter and witticism.” He kissed the tip of her pinkie and went on to taste each finger, slowly taking his time with each one. “Sea blue, bright and sparkling like the waves catching a sunset, when you’re happy.”
Caitlyn, entranced with his words, was amazed he even noticed her eyes and more amazed he practically recited poetry. Where had he come up with this?
“Storm clouds,” he continued as he stroked the inside of her palm. “Brewing with a passion and desire you’re too afraid to feel. Sometimes periwinkle, sometimes almost lavender and sometimes a sultry gray. Right now though, they are definitely–”
She pulled her hand away and scooted back in her chair. Thoroughly aroused, she squeezed her thighs tighter in an attempt to bury the spark.
“You’re full of it,” she said. “My eyes don’t change colors that much and even if they did, you wouldn’t notice.”
“What makes you say that?” He leaned back in his chair, taking the two back legs to its haunches, something they both used to get in trouble for when they were kids.
She shook her head and didn’t answer. The touch of his warm mouth on her fingers still burned in her core.
“I always notice your eyes.”
About the Author
During her senior year in high school, Angela Smith was dubbed most likely to write a novel, and that has been her dream ever since her mother read stories of 'Brer Rabbit' to her and her sister so often that they were able to recite it back to each other before they learned to read. She hasn't stopped reading or writing since. A certified paralegal, work gives her perfect fodder for her romantic suspense stories. When not caring for her small farm or spending time with her husband of two decades, she enjoys 4-wheeling, crafting, reading, and dreaming of the places she'll visit one day.
