Author Guest Post/Giveaway: Trusting In The Father's Love by Carrie B. Robinson

Please tell us about your current release.
Trusting In The Father’s Love is the story of my life. I like to say if you love a good love story, then my book delivers it all. There is intrigue, danger, opposition and in the end the girl comes to a place where she cannot live without the love of her life. This book will make you laugh, cry and give thanks.

Excerpt:
I was the product of a twenty-nine- year old young woman, already a single mother of three children and a twenty-nine year old young man who had no children but was married and separated from his wife. They had no plans to wed and so there my mother was living with my grandmother, her mother. My mother was told by her mother that she could not bring any more children into her home. I would find all this out much later in adulthood. The decision was made to give me up for adoption. The rejection starts.

What inspired you to write this book?
My inspiration comes from many sources, but my main source is God, Himself. The way He loves me, inspires me to want to share my story with others. Because I had come through such difficult times in my own life, I believed and still believe that the sharing of my testimony, openly and honestly, will allow others to do the same. I am also inspired by nature. I love to sit by the window and get ideas or sit outside and use my senses to connect with nature. It all inspires me to want to write.

What exciting story are you working on next?
My next book in the making is a 31-day devotional workbook. When I can quiet myself down and just spend a little time with Jesus each day in quiet contemplation and meditation, the way that I tackle the duties of my day are different because of the time I have spent with Him. I want to share that feeling with others. My book will not only have scripture but the reader will have to apply it to their life in a practical way. I am also working on another inspirational book about mentoring relationships.

Writing life:
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
When I had my first article published in high school. It was so full-filling to see my name on the article and know that others would be reading it. Many years later, I still get that same feeling.

Do you write full-time? If so, what's your work day like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
Presently, I do not write full-time. I am a wife, mother, grandmother, leader, mentor, counselor, business woman, sister, daughter, and full time nursing instructor. Wow, finding the time to write…when I can. Because I am off in the summer, that seems to be my most productive time for writing. My dream job would be writing full time from home while doing speaking engagements along with coaching individuals and teams.

Fun:

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I would have to say it is when I get up several times during the night to write. I will begin the process of going to bed and that seems to be when I get my best inspiration. Maybe it is because I begin to shut my mind down and God can speak to me about what to write. My husband is getting used to me getting up and down. Because I prefer to type instead of write, I have to get up and go to my office.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Like most children, I wanted to be many different things. The one that I remember the most is a business woman with a secretary who works in a tall building. Most of all, I wanted to be loved and treasured. I think most little girls, and big girls, want that.

Anything additional you want to share with the readers?
I am grateful to God, honored and humbled at what has taken place in my life since the writing of Trusting In The Father’s Love. I have the wonderful opportunity to meet and share my life story with many women. It is a joy when a woman comes up to me and shares how my book has touched her life. What I know is that if I can go through all that I have and come through it, anyone can. You have to have faith in God and know and trust that He loves you and wants the best for you. You can connect with me on my website @ www.carrierobinson, facebook, twitter and linkedin. I am offering a special book tour price on my website.

Thank You.

Book Excerpt

I was the product of a twenty-nine- year old young woman, already a single mother of three children and a twenty-nine year old young man who had no children but was married and separated from his wife. They had no plans to wed and so there my mother was living with my grandmother, her mother. My mother was told by her mother that she could not bring any more children into her home. I would find all this out much later in adulthood. The decision was made to give me up for adoption. The rejection starts.

I was given to my father’s mother who was married, in her forties, and could no longer have children. My birth mother had considered letting a neighbor in my grandmother’s community adopt me, but my father intervened. My paternal grandmother and her husband took me home from the hospital on May 28, 1966, two days after my birth. They raised me as their only child the best they could

During my early childhood years, life was very simple. Although we did not have much money, I never felt like we were poor. I never went without food, clothing, or shelter. In fact, I was raised in the same home all my life until I married. My mama worked as a maid and housekeeper during the day and my Papa worked at the local aluminum plant.

During the years my Papa was with us, I felt completely secure and totally adored and loved. I remember how he would bring me “nabs”, short for Nabisco crackers, home every day from work. He would work very hard during the week and drink even harder on the weekends, but it did not bother me because he was completely in love with me and me with him. I remember so many times sitting on his lap and talking about one thing or another, just sharing our day. How I miss that man and wish that he could have seen me as an adult with his grandchildren. My sons would absolutely adore him and he them. He would have been a wonderful grandpa.

My Papa got very sick when I was about nine years old and went into the Biloxi Veterans Hospital because he was a veteran who served in the naval service. I remember going to visit him often, and he would play with me and talk to me. My Papa went home to be with the Lord when I was 10 years old and it was just me and mama. I had no idea how my life was about to change.

When my Papa went home to be with the Lord, even though I had an enormously large family on both sides; my Mama, the eldest of seventeen children and a twin, had eight children, my father being the third child. I have many cousins, aunts, and uncles on this side of my family tree. Papa came from a small family. He was an only child, and he had one son from a previous marriage. My mother was one of four children, and she had four children of her own and I have many cousins, aunts and uncles on her side of my family tree, some that I do not know to this very day. With all of this family, I still felt all alone.
