Author InterviewGiveaway: Fighting Addiction by BA Tortuga
Little Blurb about yourself:
Texan to the bone and an unrepentant Daddy's Girl, BA Tortuga spends her days with her basset hounds, getting tattooed, texting her sisters, and eating Mexican food. When she's not doing that, she's writing. She spends her days off watching rodeo, knitting and surfing porn sites in the name of research. BA's personal saviors include her partner, Julia Talbot, her best friend, Sean Michael, and coffee. Lots of coffee. Really good coffee.
Having written everything from fist-fighting rednecks to hard-core cowboys to werewolves, BA does her damnedest to tell the stories of her heart, which was raised in Northeast Texas, but is feeling the Colorado mountains calling. With books ranging from hard-hitting GLBT romance, to fiery menages, to the most traditional of love stories, BA refuses to be pigeon-holed by anyone but the voices in her head.
1. Who or what inspired you to become a writer? L
I honestly can say I’ve never once wanted to be anything else. I sold my first poem to a magazine when I was six and never looked back. I learned to read before I learned to walk, and I’ve been a slave to stories since my first picture book.
2. How long did it take you to write Fighting Addiction?
It took almost exactly three months. I was totally overtaken by the story and the boys were incredibly insistent on getting their happy ending, damn it. ;-)
3. While writing how many times do you go back and rewrite a plot?
Normally, quite a lot. Fighting Addiction was different in that it very much wrote itself from beginning to end.
4. You run into a bookstore, where do you go first?
Blushes
Well, that depends. Is it one with a Starbucks? Because if there’s a Starbucks, there’s a soy latte with my name on it…
5. How many books in a month do you tend to read?
Hrm. I average about 130 books a year. I have one in every room and nibble at them through out the day. It’s an odd (and wonderful) book that convinces me to just devour it in a sitting.
6. In all the books you've read. Who is your most favorite character and why?
Jo in Little Women. When I was little, I thought she was so much like me – she said things that she regretted, she was a writer, she wasn’t the pretty one or the domestic one.
7. State 5 random facts about yourself.
1. My favorite color is pink.
2. I only buy red cars.
3. I am terrified of clowns and lizards.
4. My favorite movie is the Wizard of Oz
5. I can dislocate my thumbs at will.
8. Your favorite Genre?
In romance, I love suspense best. :D In general fiction, I’m a horror reader.
9. What are you currently reading?
The Inventor’s Companion by Ariel Tachna
Two to Love by Sophie Oak
Brass Balls by Mia Watts
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
Boy’s Life by Robert R. McCammon
10. What is the best book you've read?
O.o
Hrm…
Not my favorite, but the best…
I’m going to have to go with Morrison’s Beloved. It changed me.
11. Any new projects coming up?
I have a new m/m/f ménage title from Ellora’s Cave, Mating Call, coming November 23, a m/m Western titled Adding to the Collection and a m/m/f Western titled Roughstock: What She Wants coming from Torquere Press in December. Also, my newest m/f romance and the beginning of a new series, Mr. Unlucky, will release from Resplendence in January. :D
Here’s your chance to market your book. Describe it. And why readers should pick it up?
Markus Kane is a singer that’s just beginning the inevitable slide from being on the very top. His former lover, Sebastian Longchamps, though? Lord, y’all, that man is on the top. Arena shows. Tours. Money and fame and all the good that comes with.
It’s not like Markus is crying in his beer over it, though. Hell, now that he’s done with rehab, he’s in fighting shape. He looks good, he sounds good, and best of all, he feels good.
So when Sebastian calls, late one night, and asks if he wants to go on tour, Markus isn’t sure if this won’t be the camel-breaking needle everyone’s been talking about.
These boys honored my with their story and I have never cried so much or been so joyful. I’m proud of these two, and the story they told.

I love the title of that one you're working on: Mr. Unlucky. There's so much wrapped up in that title!
