What is/are the first book(s) you’re reading for the new year?

I had a mini read-a-thon of children’s books in the house and on ipad to get the year started. The printed ones will be donated to my nephews school the ebooks will be deleted to clear space for more.

Musing Mondays

When reading do you read every word? Do you ever skip chapters or skim over parts?

That would be just plain wrong to skip a word or chapter, how can you keep up with the context if you skip words?

I know there are books I would try to stay away from (chuckers) if they looked to daunting in my early years, but now read (or listen to), just about anything I can.

What do you use to mark your place while reading? Do you have a definite preference? Do you use bookmarks, paper, or (gasp) turn down the pages? If you use bookmarks, do you have a favourite one?


I try to always use a bookmark, but will dogear sometimes if it’s a book I own. I have several favorite bookmarks, mostly with frogs on them. They are ones that my nephews have bought for me.

A few weeks back we had a question about borrowing books, this week I was wondering what your policy was on lending books. Do you lend books to anyone? Just friends? Only big readers? How long are they allowed to have them?

I only lend to good friends who I know will return the books or pass them on. My sister-in-law is the best - we are always trading books - thank goodness we have some of the same tastes for reading (cozy mysteries, Janet Evanovich romance, etc)

We trade for as long as it takes us to read them. We usually have about 5-6 books swapped at a time.
