Author Interview: Attributes of Mastery by Blanca Beyar

1. Who or what inspired you to become a writer?

In my wildest dreams, I never envisioned becoming a writer. My calling to write emerged during my own spiritual journey. At the time, I was deeply meditating and had achieved making contact with my spiritual guide. It was during this amazing dialogue that I was guided to begin harnessing my writing skills. I thought it was hysterical because I did not feel my writing skills merited any kind of attention. However, as I began to share my spiritual experiences through my own journey, people began to email and contact me. The response of readers was the additional inspiration that I needed to know that writing would become part of my life’s calling.

2. How long did it take you to write Attributes of Mastery?

Once I am guided to begin working on a book, it becomes like an obsession. I always look to be in the “flow” of receiving insight and guidance, and once I am in the energy, I can write a book in a matter of days. “Attributes of Mastery” was a little different. I had completed the first portion of the book in about three weeks but then I was guided to include a chapter about my own spiritual struggles and life. It was here that the flow sort of slowed down because I found it a bit challenging to write about myself and my life. At the end, I love that I was inspired to include this chapter because it completes and validates how the attributes that are presented in the beginning of the book really can assist us in transforming our lives...I know, because they transformed my life!

3. While writing how many times do you go back and rewrite a plot?

It is interesting because since I feel that most of what I write about is being channeled, I rarely—if ever—go back to change what I have been guided to write about. I totally trust in the guidance that is with me when I am sharing and most of the time, I do not even read over what I am writing about. After one of my books is published, I will sit down and read it and sometimes surprise myself at what I wrote!

4. You run into a bookstore, where do you go first?

I may be a bit biased but I always run to the Spiritual/Self-Help section whenever I am at a book store. I used to enjoy reading fictional books before I became a writer but these days, I enjoy reading books that are about real life events and books that can help transform a reader’s life.

5. How many books in a month do you tend to read?

I used to read a lot more in the past than I do now. I am more likely to read a book that a student recommends. I have a beloved student who is an avid reader of spiritual books and whenever she reads a good book, she always passes it down to me. However, with my efforts being primarily focused on expanding my work in a more expansive way, I have several books that I have started to read but have not made the time to complete.

6. In all the books you've read. Who is your most favorite character and why?

One of my favorite books is “Conversation with God” by Neale Donald Walsh. I remember being completely challenged by this amazing book and also relating so much to the questions that Neale was searching for during his own spiritual journey. I was so inspired to sit down and have my own conversation with God after reading this book and surprisingly, I was successful in obtaining many insights when I was truly ready to ask and to listen to the responses.

7. State 5 random facts about yourself.

Hummm. These questions always seem to challenge me a bit. Well, 1.I am a child at heart; love to dance, to be playful and passionate about all that life has to offer. 2. I passionately enjoy being aware of my senses; love the flavor of different foods, the spectrum of colors, etc. 3. I am very expressive in my dressing and adorning of my appearance. I absolutely love people and enjoy giving long, loving hugs, even to strangers. 4. I lovingly call myself a “whore for the Divine...I live to be of divine service and breathe this truth as my lifeline. 5. I live in daily gratitude for all that I have experienced, all that I have and “Am,” and all that I am a part of.

8. Your favorite Genre?

I love reading true stories, I also enjoy reading inspirational books but my favorite genre is Self-Help books because I like to experience the many ways in which people have experienced healing and transformation. Although fictional books can be fun and allow us to step into a field of fantasy, I much rather read something that can be put into real action based on the insight and experience of a real story.

9. What are you currently reading?

Ironically, even though I love spiritual and self-help books, I am currently reading “The Bridges of Madison County.” The movie is a classic and one of my favorites because it captures the love story of a twin flame couple and illustrates how the choices we make in life are what define our future. It is a compelling book but one that is also filled with the reminders of true love and romance.

10. What is the best book you've read?

The best book I have read is “Conversations with God” by Neale Donald Walsh. It was an eye-opener for me and greatly inspired me to develop my own conversation with God. At the time, I felt that Neale had tremendous courage in so openly speaking about his own spirituality and now realize that he was---and continues to be—an incredible teacher and pioneer for the world of spirituality.

11. Any new projects coming up?

Yes. Interestingly enough, after asking the God Force to lead me in the direction of coming out into the masses in a more expansive way, I was recently contacted by VH1 to shoot an episode for a very popular reality show. Although I was hesitant at first, I quickly realized that it is not always how we envision things to be fulfilled, but more so, how it will be most optimal—even though we may not always see it that way...I filmed an episode with “Mob Wives” that will be airing in the new upcoming season.
